Rava Fish fry is unique and special dish from coastal area. Fish is marinated with red paste and then coated with Rava(sooji) and shallow fried.

Lunch/Dinner is incomplete without fish fry. I always loved fish fry than fish
curry.
Now in Bangalore even with busy weekdays we make sure we get fish
on weekend and preserve for a whole week.
This recipe is very easy to prepare. I usually apply the red paste to
fish beforehand and freeze and use it whenever required.
Trust me, even with simple dal rice this fish fry tastes
heaven.
Somehow this recipe was missing in blog eventhogh we eat this almost everyday . Finally made
up my mind to take photos without being hurry to eat it :).
So finally fish fry comes to blog ;). Here it is .....
Serves :2
Ingredients:
4-5 Fish Fillets( medium size as shown in pic, I used pomfret)
1 Tbsp Red Chilly Powder
1/3 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/2 tsp Garlic paste
2 Tbsp Tamarind extract
1 tsp Salt to taste
Rava/sooji to coat the fish
2 tsp Oil to shallow fry
Method:
1.Mix together red chilly powder,turmeric,garlic paste,tamarind extract and make a thick paste of it.
2.Add salt to this paste and mix well. It will be little salty now but don't worry Fish will absorb this salt.
3.Apply this paste generously to fish on both sides and keep for 30 minutes or more.
4.Take rava in a wide plate and roll the fish on the rava.
5.Heat 1 tsp oil on tawa(i used cast iron tawa) in medium flame. When hot place the fish on tawa.Don't overlap.
6.Drizzle remaining oil on top of fish and on sides.
7.Shallow fry the fish on both sides until crisp and golden brown.If slices of fish are thin , it will take around 6 to 7 minutes.
8.Serve fish with lemon wedges and enjoy :)
