Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken Recipe | How To Make Sweet and Sour Chicken



I love chicken. Most of the time I cook coastal style chicken curry or chicken sukka (which will be coming soon on the blog). There will be some starters too :). Usually I like spicy chicken, but I wanted to try this sweet and sour chicken from long time. Trust me, this came out delicious. My husband liked it too.
You can deep fry or shallow fry the chicken But These days I am towards baking to keep on the healthy side. You can find Baked dishes here. I added Honey to dish. You can even add sugar in place of honey. Adding dash of pineapple juice to sauce will be great too. Let's quickly make it.

Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken
Serves: 4-5

Ingredients:
500 Gms Boneless Chicken cut into 1 Inch Cubes
2 Eggs
3/4 Cup Breadcrumbs / Corn Flour
1 tsp Freshly ground Pepper Powder
Salt to taste
Oil to grease
Sesame seeds for Garnish

Sauce:
10 Garlic Cloves chopped
1.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce
2 Tbsp Tomato Sauce
1 Tbsp Red Chilly Sauce
1 Tbsp Corn Flour
1/2 Cup Water
1 Tbsp While Vinegar
1.5 Tbsp Honey
1 tsp Oil
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:
1.Mix the Chicken Pieces with Salt and Pepper and keep aside.
2.Mean while Take Eggs in a bowl and whisk it for 5 minutes.
3.In another bowl take Breadcrumbs/Corn Flour.
4.Preheat the oven or microwave with convection mode for 7 Minutes.
5.Lightly Grease the baking Pan with Oil and keep ready.
6.Now take the one chicken piece at a time and first dip into egg mix and then coat with breadcrumbs/corn flour and transfer to baking pan.
7.Bake it till it becomes golden brown and gets cooked .It will take around 20-25 minutes.

8.In a pan heat the oil and add Garlic and saute for 5 seconds.
9.Now add Soy Sauce,Tomato Sauce,Red Chilly Sauce to it and mix well.
10.Mix Corn Flour with water and add this to pan .
11.Add Vinegar,Honey, Salt and Pepper to it and mix well.
12.Once the sauce gets thickened toss in the chicken pieces and coat with sauce .
13.Garnish with Sesame seeds and Serve Hot.

Notes:
1.Toss in the chicken just before serving.
2.You can make sauce and keep ready.Just before serving warm up the sauce and toss in chicken and serve.
3.You can add sugar too instead of honey.
4.You can even add bit of pineapple juice while preparing sauce.
