When we have veg meals paneer has to be there. Paneer makes the dish special. We love to pair North Indian gravies with roti, naan, or any Indian Breads. This is one of the tastiest dishes which is loved by everyone. It is very easy and quick to make. Just keep all the ingredients ready in hand. I am sure you will love this creamy Matar paneer.

Matar Paneer is a Creamy delicious North Indian dish prepared from fresh peas and soft paneer cubes cooked in creamy onion, tomato gravy with Indian Spices.
Serves: 3-4
Ingredients:
Paste:
2 Onion medium-sized
2 Tomatoes large sized
2 Green Chilly
1 inch Ginger
5-6 Garlic Cloves
2 Green Cardamom
6-8 Cashew Nuts
Gravy:
3 Tbsp Ghee/Oil
200 gm Paneer Cubes
1 Cup Green Peas (fresh or frozen)
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 Bay Leaf
1 inch Cinnamon Stick
1-2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Coriander Powder
1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
1 tsp Kasuri Methi
1 Tbsp Fresh Cream
1/2 tsp Sugar
3/4 Cup Water (adjust to the thickness required)
Salt To taste
Directions:
1. Blend all the ingredients under 'Paste' to a fine paste and keep aside.
2. Soak paneer cubes in warm water.
3. Heat Ghee/Oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot add Cumin Seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon, and saute for 10 seconds.
4. Add ground masala paste [from Step 1] and saute on Medium Flame.
5. Add Red chilli powder, Turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt, and keep sauteing on low - medium flame.
6. Cook until masalas leave oil. It will take around 15 minutes. Keep adding little water if masala turns dry.
7. Now add Green Peas and Water and bring it to boil and cook until peas are cooked.
8. Add the remaining ingredients except paneer [Garam Masala Powder, Kasuri Methi, Fresh Cream, Sugar] and cook for 2 minutes.
9. Finally add the Paneer cubes and cook for 2-3 minutes.
10. Garnish with Coriander Leaves and enjoy with Indian Breads or Rice.
Notes:
1.Gravy will thicken a bit once cooled. So add the water to the thickness required at step 7.[I used 3/4 - 1 Cup]
